Don Weber's Ham Radio Interface:

Don, KA7QQV,  developed a ham radio interface for the GoldWing before anyone else I know about.  His design is simple, elegant and it works.  Audio through the components he selected is better than I've been able to find to date for what I show below and that statement is what making the connection is all about.

Roger's Ham Radio & Radar Detector Interface:

This interface is scaled version of the intercom interface Don Weber designed and shared with me.  It uses separate input and output matching transformers for both audio and microphone.  Connection for the radar detector could have also been coupled with one of the audio input from the intercom using a resistor, but I wanted more isolation and trimming.

My interface works okay, but I'm not happy with the quality of the Radio Shack coupling transformers.  While the information being sent if understandable, the voices aren't natural sounding.  Clearly, I'm going to need to get good transformers from Don Weber before I make this a permanent installation in the bike.  Because I need to redo the board, I'm also going to incorporate this same circuit  thinking into the cell phone interface so I'll only have only one interface box to deal with on the wing.

Wong Cell Set Photos:

Pictures shown below were taken show a close variation of the Kennedy Cell set.  There isn't much to making a cell phone work with a GoldWing Intercom as long as there is enough trimmer to keep the phone's audio from over-powering the input of the intercom.
